Community Projects

Pat Popa is shown below unveiling the Downtown Ducks Public Art project in 2003. There were 50 painted duck sculptures exhibited outdoors for the entire summer. Under her direction this project raised more than $46,000 which is in a fund to be used for a landmark in Downtown Highland.

The Water Under the Ridge Community Mural project got people of all ages involved. With this project, Pat raised community spirit as well as $8,000, which was donated to help build the new Main Square Gazebo.

Pat was one of the coordinators of the County Seats Project, a fun, interactive sculpture exhibit occurring outdoors throughout Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties this past summer. The exhibit had 80 pieces and covered a distance of 41 miles (as the crow flies). The project raised $57,799 which went back to the participating communities and created the South Shore Arts Young Artists Prize for Excellence, awarding $1,500 annually to talented area students.
